Pencombe Group Parish Council
Your Parish council = The closest tier of government to you – the voice of local people
Message from Tony “Brasso” Brazier, Chairman of Pencombe Group PC-
I’m sure all our residents share my delight that Celia Barrett, our Post Mistress was able to re-open our Post Office from 19th May. Social distancing measures are in place but apart from that it’s business as usual for Celia and we are all so pleased to see her back. It signifies a return to some sort of normality. Welcome back Celia and we all thank you for the services you provide for us.
Also because of the general slowdown of COVID-19 the Contact Volunteer scheme to help vulnerable or ill Parishioners with shopping, collecting medication and so on has now been wound up. 24 residents volunteered between them to “adopt” every household in the Parish and since 20th March have been carrying out these essential tasks for our most at risk residents. I want to thank all these volunteers for the great work they have done and it shows that our communities can rise to the challenge of supporting each other even in very difficult circumstances
We have just heard that Chris Davies, well known and much loved landlady at our Wheelwrights has lost both her parents over the last few days. We don’t know any details but on behalf of our entire community we wanted to extend our sympathies and thoughts to Chris and Roly in these difficult and unusual times.
